Black Noise Magazine* is a media platform documenting the rise of electronic music culture across Nigeria and Africa. Founded at a moment when raves, DJs, and underground collectives are reshaping nightlife in cities like Lagos and Abuja, Black Noise exists to capture the people, spaces, and sounds driving this movement forward.

Our work sits at the intersection of journalism, culture, and nightlife. Through interviews, video essays, essays, and field reporting, we document the communities building Africa’s electronic music ecosystems — from DJs and promoters to the dancefloors and temporary spaces where these cultures come alive.

Black Noise approaches electronic music as more than entertainment. The rave is a social environment where ideas about identity, class, creativity, and freedom are constantly negotiated. By telling these stories, we aim to create an archive of a cultural moment that is still unfolding.

At its core, Black Noise Mag is guided by three ideas: people, spaces, sound. The people building the culture, the spaces that host it, and the sounds that move it forward.
